Gerstner Tabs New Car and Crew Chief for New Smyrna

Jeremy Gerstner began his love for Tour Modifieds at New Smyrna watching them compete annually during Speedweeks.  In 2011 he got his feet wet in the SK division during Speedweeks and that only made the fire grow stronger to compete fully with a tour modified.  Fast forward to two Southern Modified Racing Series championships with Shady Grady and back to our family owned team.  Jeremy is hoping this is the year to turn things around locally for his hometown crowd with the addition of a veteran crew chief.

Jeremy Gerstner and Stash Butova have teamed up for New Smyrna Speedweeks in the Tour-type Modifieds in the GMR Motorsports number 55.

Stash has been a winning crew chief at New Smyrna previously with Jeff Malave, Zack Sylvester, The White Brothers, JR Bertuccio and an SK championship in 2002.  Beyond understanding New Smryna, Stash has credit for 80 career wins at Stafford, Thompson and Waterford throughout New England in the Modifieds.

“Over the last couple of years, I have spoken to Jeremy about setting up his car but it has never worked out before”, said Stash.  Jeremy was left without a ride and no crew chief last year and just worked his way through the year on his own and realized the importance of a great crew chief.  “This year I was looking to go in a different direction and talked to Jeremy in November and it was an instant fit”, said Stash.

The duo compliments one another with Jeremy’s aggressive driving style and Stash’s fast setups.  They are both hoping this should lay the groundwork for some awesome finishes and future for the pair.

The team will compete all week starting on Monday, February 8th until Friday, February 12th.  The pre-entry list is full of heavy hitters 40+ cars strong.

As always all this would never be possible without support from our GMR Motorsports partners, including Kevin Dunn Construction, Jerry Hunt Supercenter, Tony Brost Electrical Services and Racecar Engineering.  GMR Motorsports is always looking for partners for Speeddweeks and beyond in 2021.  Visit our website more updates:
