Spencer Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet team battled to a top-15 finish, placing 11th in the Pocono ARCA 200 at the Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon. After battling handling issues and an early pit road incident during the 80-lap affair, the Las Vegas, native earned his fourth lead-lap finish in the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. The 24-year-old started the seventh race of the season from the 15th position, but during the early laps of the race, Gallagher informed crew chief Ryan “Pickle” London he was battling a tight-handling blue and orange Chevrolet. A pit road incident on Lap 7 under the first caution could have ruined his day when Gallagher, who was entering his stall, made contact with another competitor who was exiting his. There ended up being some damage to the left front of his No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, but his team did a great job getting the damage fixed, and he was able to stay on the lead lap. The Ryan “Pickle” London-led crew made a variety of adjustments during multiple two and four-tire pits stops throughout the race, but the handling issues persisted, leaving Gallagher to run within the top 15 for the majority of the afternoon. He was able to steadily move his way through the field and re-enter the top 10 by the 44 Lap marker of the 200 mile race. As the race progressed, the GMS Racing driver methodically and patiently maintained his progress, and crossed the finish line in the 11th position.
The next event on the ARCA Racing Series schedule is the Michigan ARCA 200 on Friday, June 13 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The race starts at 5:15 p.m. EDT, with live coverage provided by FOX Sports 1.
