GAFFNEY, SC — The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series got the 2nd Annual Bash At The Beach at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL., finally completed after Friday night’s race was marred by on and off rain that finally got the best of the track around 10pm and with and 11:30 pm curfew it was going to be hard to get the program in under the curfew so Friday night’s show was cancelled and the fans got to see a great show Saturday night as G R Smith of Cornelius, NC., was one of six cars to break the track record and then from his outside pole starting position jumped into the lead over inside pole sitter J R Moseley, survived several restarts and one late race restart to get his second career win. Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS., who took the Southern All Star win at Magnolia Motor Speedway last year challenged Smith but never could get around him and came home second, Moseley of Columbus, GA., battled with Hughes during the race and brought home a third place finish, fourth to Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL., from his 13th starting spot, and fifth to Kitt Sealy of Moultrie, GA., in his best run with the series.
Chris Smith of Brewton, AL., brought home a sixth place finish from 11th starting spot, Jay Scott of Fayetteville, TN., finished seventh, Tristian Sealy of Moultrie, GA., got an eighth place finish from his 15th starting spot and this also gave him the points lead for the first time in his career, Devin Dixon of Apollo Beach, FL., finished ninth and Ray McEhaney of Pulaski, TN., finished 10th.
RACE TIDBITS: Southern All Star veteran Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN., had a header collapse as a result of and early race crash that ended his night, local favorite Ryan Crane’s night ended early as he was also involved in early race crash.
First time career Southern All Star starters include Mickey Trosclair, Steven Jernigan, Blake Martin, Chris Smith, Clay Harris, Matt Chaves, Eric Mazingo, Josh Huss.
Also like to thank drivers for making their first trip to Southern Raceway and supporting the series, Ray McElhaney, Mark Dodson, Joseph Faulkner, Brett White, and Tommy Taylor.
