This weekend, hundreds of football players who have trained their entire lives will have their dreams fulfilled as they are announced as draft picks in the National Football League. Similarly, Speed51 will be announcing the selections for its annual Short Track Draft starting next Thursday.
The 2020 Short Track Draft will begin with a first-ever live broadcast on Thursday, April 30. The top 10 picks will be announced at 7 p.m. ET that night on the Short Track Draft Selection Show, allowing drivers and fans to watch the announcement live in primetime.
However, that will still leave 90 more selections in the Short Track Draft to be announced. Those picks will be announced over the week that follows.
On Friday, May 1, picks 11 through 25 will be unveiled. After a weekend away from the draft floor, selections 26-50 will be announced on Monday, May 4.
That takes us to the second half of the draft, filled with sleepers and rising stars who could be early candidates to make big jumps in the 2021 Short Track Draft.
Picks 51 through 75 will be presented on Tuesday, May 5, with selections 76 through 100 announced on Wednesday, May 6 to close out the 2020 Short Track Draft.
Short Track Draft ballots have already been distributed to an expert panel of more than 100 people in the racing industry, including members of the media, former top Short Track Draft picks, NASCAR Cup Series drivers, promoters and other industry experts.
Once the results are calculated, it will be time to unveil them and announce who will join the prestigious list of former number-one draft picks in the Speed51 Short Track Draft. Former number-one picks include the likes of Chase Elliott, Bubba Pollard, Daniel Hemric, Christopher Bell, Ty Majeski, Todd Gilliland, Harrison Burton and, most recently, Chandler Smith.
Who will receive that number-one pick? Watch the Short Track Draft Selection Show on Thursday, April 30 to find out.
