Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway officials announced today that due to the ongoing race tire shortage, a decision has been made to postpone the annual running of the Freedom 300. They would have loved to have better news for the racers and fans, but the huge special event will have to wait until next year.
Plans are already being made for the 2022 edition of the race, which will feature $5,000 to win purse the NHSTRA Street Stocks and $10,000 to win for the Pro Stocks, with many more announcements regarding the Sunday, September 11, 2022 event expected during the off-season.
Meanwhile, all eyes will be focused on championship night this coming Friday, September 3, with the 2021 season titles on the line in all four NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions.
The Rodfather Late Model Sportsmen, R&R Race Parts NH Street Stocks, O’Reilly Auto Parts Six Shooters, and MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks will all be running double features to decide the 2021m champions.
Frankie Eldredge heads into the finale atop the Late Model Sportsman standings, looking to add yet another championship title to his already impressive resume. Two-time 2021m winner Charlie Colby holds down the second spot, just 28 points behind. Bobby Frappier, Bryan Kruczek and Jesse Bousquet fill out the top five with just one night of points racing left.
Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. leads the Street Stocks by an even slimmer margin, leading double-duty driver Travis Hollins by 22 markers heading into the finale. Rookie contender Milton Duran sits in the third spot, with Matt Robinson and another rookie, Morgan MacIntyre deadlocked in a tie for the fourth spot.
Hollins is one spot better in the Six Shooter ranks, leading the way by a scant 6-point margin over another former champion, crowd favorite Christin DeStefano. Adam Knowles rides third, with rookie Michael Yeaton and Chris Hadley next in the points parade.
The McGrath brothers will be fighting it out for the Pure Stock crown, with Noah leading Zach by the biggest cushion in any division, 30 points to the good. Jeff Turcotte and Ernie Coates are separated by just eight points in the battle for third, and Justin Faford is a lock for another top five season.
Despite the disappointing news about the Freedom 300, Lee’s traditional season-ending Oktoberfest weekend will go on as scheduled, with three action packed days of racing featuring virtually every type of racecar October 1-3. We’ll have more announcements about Oktoberfest as race weekend approaches.
