Fredrickson Nearly Breaks His Own Record in Oktoberfest Qualifying

It was a familiar face at the top of the board as Dan Fredrickson set fast time for the ARCA Midwest Tour finale at LaCrosse Speedway Oktoberfest Race Weekend.  The Lakeville, MN driver posted a blistering lap of 18.568, nearly breaking his own track record in the process.

Fredrickson’s lap time even surprised himself after being unhappy with his car during practice.  He admitted to making a mistake during his run that hurt his time, but he was still able to score fast time for the 200-lap event.

“I’ll tell you what, I screwed up half that lap, so I don’t feel too bad about it,” Fredrickson told  “This morning I think I screamed the F-bomb like six thousand times during practice I was so mad at my car.  It must’ve been a bad set of tires or something because we didn’t change that much and we had a good run there.”

As he goes for a record-tying fifth Oktoberfest win later Sunday afternoon, he says his car is still experiencing issues from Friday night’s Trickle 99.    His main goal for the race is to make it the entire duration of the race.

“We had some troubles with the car so hopefully it makes it 200 laps without breaking,” he said.  “Stuff that started in the Trickle and we don’t have a spare car or a spare rear end or some other stuff.  It’s kind of a patched together pile of junk, so we’ll see what happens.”

While Fredrickson was quickest in qualifying, there will be an invert of at least 10 cars based on a roll of a die, which will take place on Sunday.

The qualifying session flipped the book on the ARCA Midwest Tour points standings, with Casey Johnson now leading Austin Nason by a single point going into the race.  The objective in order to be crowned champion is simple: beat the other driver.
