KIMMEL AT SALEM: Saturday’s Federated Car Care ARCA Fall Classic presented by JayC Food Stores will mark Frank Kimmel’s 42nd career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at Salem (Ind.) Speedway. Over a span of 22 years, Kimmel has recorded 9 wins, 29 top-five and 35 top-10 finishes, in addition to nine poles. The 10-time champion has completed 96.3% of laps competed (7960 of 8263) and led a total of 1827 laps.

HOMESTATE TRACK: This weekend’s event marks a return to the Hoosier State for Frank Kimmel, a native of Clarksville, Indiana. Kimmel and his wife Donna continue to live a short drive from Salem Speedway in Borden, Indiana.

NEW SURFACE: Between ARCA’s first event in April and this Saturday’s race at Salem Speedway, the track elected to repave turns three and four, creating a new surface for the ARCA teams who competed earlier this season at the short track. This is the first new application of asphalt at the track in nearly 40 years.

TEST 1, 2, 3: Earlier this month, Kimmel and the Mark Rette-led team headed from the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds to Salem Speedway to test in preparation for this weekend’s Fall Classic. After a full day of practice, the Win-Tron Racing team felt optimistic about returning to the Indiana short track and competing for the victory.

DUQUOIN RECAP: Two weeks ago, the ARCA Racing Series made their second and final stop on dirt as the Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds took place on Labor Day. In a quick one-day show, Kimmel and his Ansell-Menards team practiced, qualified and started the race all in a short six hours. After qualifying in the ninth position, Kimmel battled an issue where the No. 44 Toyota would shut off unexpectedly. Despite this issue, Kimmel drove hard to cross the finish line in third-place.

MEET THE CHAMP: Fans will have the opportunity to meet Kimmel prior to the race on Saturday afternoon, as the Indiana native will join his fellow competitors on the frontstretch at 4:45 p.m. Eastern to sign autographs and take pictures.

FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT: Kimmel on the new pavement at Salem Speedway… “Turns three and four are very smooth, no big bumps. It does seem to have a few more waves in it that it didn’t have before. There’s a pretty big bump going into there but I know they’re working on it. And there’s a pretty big bump coming off four, you can hear it. As far as the car wanting to get loose off turn four…that was better. It’s much improved all the way around three and four. The fast lane is still around the top, but the lower lane is improved too. Good news is it’s still Salem and it’s still got all its character.”
