Florida Super Late Model Racer Passes Away

Longtime Florida racer Joe Boyd has passed away after a prolonged health battle.

The Riverview, Florida native was a frequent competitor, both at a local and regional level.  Most notably, Boyd raced Super Late Models for the better part of the last 18 years.  Boyd competed for championships in series such as the Bright House Challenge Series, the Sunshine State Challenge Series and the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series, and also raced locally at DeSoto Speedway.

Boyd scored wins at many of Florida’s famed short tracks of past and present, such as DeSoto, Auburndale Speedway and USA International Speedway.  Along with his success on the track, Boyd was known for his smile and generous, caring personality by those in and out of the pits.

Speed51 offers its heartfelt condolences and prayers to Boyd’s family.
