FK Rod Ends Short Track Driver of the Month for January

Rising to the challenge is what separates a top-notch driver from the rest of the pack. Whether it’s dominating a race, going on a winning streak or sealing a win with a late-race pass, drivers slowly rise to the top of the field and make a name for themselves.

That’s why the FK Rod Ends, who has nearly 10,000 combinations of rod ends and spherical bearings available and carefully crafts their products, is proud to honor a monthly “Team FK Driver of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industry insiders will vote on which driver had the most success on the track. The driver with the most votes will then be the “Team FK Driver of the Month” and will receive a $25 product certificate to use at FK Rod Ends. At the end of the 2020 season, the driver that received the most votes throughout the season will then be the “Team FK Driver of the Year” and will be awarded a (to be determined) prize from FK Rod Ends. The month of January may not be large in quantity when it comes to short track races, but it does feature a handful of big events.  One of the biggest of them all: the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.  Each year, Tulsa, Oklahoma is home to one of best stages for drivers across all of motorsports to square off and go toe to toe. The "Super Bowl of Midget Racing" came down to two of the best, and in the end it was the man who had been trying for 13 years that finally claimed the checkered flag.

For his performance at the Chili Bowl, Kyle Larson has been named the FK Rod Ends Short Track Driver of the Month for January 2020.

There is much more to the Chili Bowl than just the final 55-lap feature on Saturday night. For all drivers, the battle starts during the week during their designated prelim night over the five days of that work week. Larson started off things right, dominating his prelim night, winning the A-Main, and most importantly, locking into the Saturday main event.

In the final battle, Larson had to shake off the demons of one year ago, when victory slipped away on the last lap allowing Christopher Bell to claim his third straight in 2019. This time, it was Larson on offense in second during the middle stages of the race, while Bell defended the top spot. When Bell’s performance began to falter, Larson was quick to pounce.

Keeping his nose clean over the final laps, Larson claimed what he immediately declared as the greatest win of his career.

For his great patience, in-race daring and never-ending determination, Kyle Larson has been named FK Rod Ends Driver of the Month for January 2020.

Other drivers receiving votes this month were Brandon Sheppard, Brian Shirley, Corey Heim, Kyle Bronson, Preston Peltier and Stephen Nasse.
