Rising to the challenge is what separates a top-notch driver from the rest of the pack. Whether it’s dominating a race, going on a winning streak or sealing a win with a late-race pass, drivers slowly rise to the top of the field and make a name for themselves.
That’s why the FK Rod Ends, who has nearly 10,000 combinations of rod ends and spherical bearings available and carefully crafts their products, is proud to honor a monthly “Team FK Driver of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industry insiders will vote on which driver had the most success on the track. The driver with the most votes will then be the “Team FK Driver of the Month” and will receive a $25 product certificate to use at FK Rod Ends. At the end of the 2020 season, the driver that received the most votes throughout the season will then be the “Team FK Driver of the Year” and will be awarded a (to be determined) prize from FK Rod Ends. The winner of the “Team FK Driver of the Month” for the month of September is…
Late Models/Sprint Cars
The most versatile drivers in short track racing can compete for wins in multiple different disciplines. Roahrig did just that in five different race cars during the month of September, winning in three cars and scoring top-five finishes in the other two.
The winning ways started on Thursday, September 17 when “Kid Rocket” won in a Non-Wing Sprint Car at Anderson Speedway (IN), outdueling three-time Little 500 champion Kody Swanson in the process.
Two nights later, he hopped into a template-bodied Super Late Model at Berlin Raceway (MI) and held off Brian Campbell to score the win in West Michigan. It was his first-ever template win.
Roahrig then ended the month in his familiar No. 24 Outlaw Super Late Model, winning the So Long Summer 75 at South Bend Motor Speedway (MI). In that time, he also had a fourth-place run in a Winged Sprint Car at M40 Speedway (MI) and a runner-up in a Modified at New Paris Speedway (IN), while also finishing third in the prestigious Little 500.
For flexing his muscie in five distinctly different types of race cars, Tyler Roahrig has been named the FK Rod Ends Short Track Driver of the Month for September 2020.
Other drivers receiving votes this month were Bobby Santos III, Derek Griffith, Matt Hirschman, Tim McCreadie and Carson Hocevar.
