Rochester Hills, Michigan (Tuesday, December 29, 2015): The fastest growing indoor racing series in the country, the Midwest Indoor Racing Series continues preparations for the 2016 portion of the winter racing season. Coming on Saturday, January 9th, 2016, Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan hosts the 2016 Cereal City Winter Showdown. The traditional new year kick off for Motor City Racing Promotions as the Rochester Hills, Michigan based series once again invades southern Michigan. Entry Forms are still available and due at the MCRP home office by January 1st, 2016.

A slew of former 600cc Mini Sprints winners at Kellogg Arena lead the early entries as Holt, Michigan native, Clay Sanders, who swept Thanksgiving Classic Weekend in Battle Creek back in November, will look to complete the sweep of the building with a third straight triumph. Former Kellogg victory lane visitors and Indiana residents, Drew Dorsett and Jason Ormsby will both look to add to their career win totals. Two of Dorsett’s three career checkered flags have come at Kellogg Arena while both of Ormsby’s victories occurred at the Cereal City arena. Track Record holder, Bill Dunham has also filed his entry after coming off an impressive second place finish at the Rumble in Fort Wayne while Marv Hephner and Howard McCormick will also make the trip to Michigan.

Three-Time Midwest Indoor Racing Series Feature Winner, Shawn Kluck leads the early wave of Go-Kart entries that will head to the Great Lakes State and kick off the 2016 campaign. Two of his three career triumphs have come at Kellogg Arena. A pair of five-time winners in 13-year-old Victorya Truemner and nine-year-old Aiden Williamson will look to add to their career wins total and so will former winners Dylan Woodling, as well as 16-year-old Sam Weaver. An 11-time MIRS Feature Winner, Jayson Mikula will lead the Lawn Mower entries into southern Michigan. The Sparta, Michigan rider is second all-time in career Feature wins in MIRS history.

The 600cc Mini Sprints headline the weekend with the 50-lap Cereal City Winter Showdown while the Mini Cup Cars and three Lawn Mower divisions of Super Modified, Modified and Stock classes will all join in on the action. In addition, seven Go-Karts divisions will all be on hand as the 360, Heavy Clone, Senior Cage, Junior Cage, Gold Plate, Purple Plate and Kid Karts classes will all be on hand. If that wasn’t enough, seven Quarter Midget divisions Senior Honda, Junior Honda, Heavy Honda, Senior Animal, Junior Animal, Light 160 and Heavy 160 will all be in the building for an action packed day and night of indoor racing.

In total, a full 19-division lineup will race on the traditional opening weekend of racing to start the new calendar year in Southern Michigan. There will be a Practice Day on Friday, January 8th as the Pit Gates open and load in begins at 12:00p.m. Rotating Practice for all divisions will run from 4:00-9:00p.m.
