Since its inception in 2015, the Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park (CA) has grown into one of Super Late Model racing’s most coveted prizes.  With a $30,000 top prize awaiting the winner once again next year, drivers from all over North America will travel to Bakersfield, California for the marquee event on February 1-2, 2019.

On Wednesday afternoon, officials from the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series released the first look at the full entry list exclusively on

With seven weeks remaining until the 5th Annual Winter Showdown, the entry list for the race currently features 26 entries.

Highlighting the entry list is a pair of NASCAR K&N Pro Series champions from the east and west.  2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion Tyler Ankrum and 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion Derek Thorn are both entered for the 300-lap Super Late Model race.

Thorn, the 2017 Winter Showdown winner, will be looking to return to victory lane during the biggest short track event in his home state.

One of the most talked about Super Late Model racers in America has also filed his entry for the 5th Annual Winter Showdown.  Florida native Stephen Nasse, who has earned a reputation for his no-holds-barred attitude, plans to make his Winter Showdown debut in 2019.

Nasse, the 2017 Southern Super Series champion, is joined by 2016 Southern Super Series champion Donnie Wilson on the entry list.  Wilson, the 2017 Winter Showdown runner-up, will make his way back to Kern County Raceway Park in 2019 after missing the race last year.

Another driver who will travel a far distance to compete in the Winter Showdown is Texas native Chris Davidson.  After failing to qualify for the inaugural Winter Showdown in 2015, Davidson returned in 2017 and finished 16th.  He returned once again in 2018 and recorded a career-best finish of seventh.

Fellow Texas driver Logan Bearden is also entered for the race after making the race for the first time in 2018.

As expected, the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series will be well represented by series regulars at the 5th Annual Winter Showdown.  2018 championship runner-up Eric Schmidt is joined on the entry list by full-time SRL drivers Carlos Vieira, Craig Raudman, Blaine Rocha, Kyle Neveau and Bob Lyon.

Two-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West winner Dylan Lupton has filed an entry for the event and will be returning for the first time since he failed to qualify for the first Winter Showdown in 2015.

Austin Herzog, one of the west coast’s rising stars, has entered the event and will look to put himself on the map with a strong showing in his second Winter Showdown attempt.  The 16-year-old driver finished 14th in his Winter Showdown debut in 2018.

Colorado native Dominic Ursetta has also filed an entry for the race following a strong eighth-place showing last February.

The state of Washington is currently represented by Evergreen Speedway regular Tyler Tanner.

Other drivers currently entered include: David Cravens, Tyler Fabozzi, Jim Wulfenstein, Brandon White, Eddy McKean, Andy Allen and Joe Farre.
