Fire that damaged portion of a garage and maintenance building on the grounds of Columbus Motor Speedway early Sunday morning will have no impact on the coming racing season.

The blaze, which is being investigated now, started about 10 AM and quickly spread in a building near the parking area of the 52 acre complex. Quick work by the Columbus and Hamilton Township Fire Departments, however, kept it from spreading to any other structures that predominate the racing complex.

The 67th racing season is set to begin April 4. With off-season track repaving and spectator area upgrades, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock cars will compete in a 24 event schedule.
