Fast Facts: This weekend’s PASS Commonwealth Classic was originally scheduled for last October before Mother Nature interfered and forced officials to postpone the event.  Six different divisions will be in action including two divisions of Super Late Models (Opens and Crates), ACT Late Models, Tour-type Modifieds, Street Stocks and Four Cylinders/Mini Stocks.

The PASS Commonwealth Classic will be the first opportunity for race fans east of the Mississippi to watch the new Five Star Gen6 Late Model bodies in action.  A number of Super Late Model teams will be debuting the new bodies this weekend. Ben Rowe, Travis Benjamin, Matt Craig, Reid Lanpher, DJ Shaw, Mike Hopkins, Dan McKeage and Gabe Brown are just a handful of drivers who will be sporting the new look.

Saturday’s event will serve as the season opener for the 2019 PASS National Championship.  Drivers will be able to use their best finish of the day to count towards the 2019 PASS National Championship.  Currently, Ben Rowe, Travis Benjamin, Kyle Reid, Matt Craig, Reid Lanpher and Ray Christian III are entered for both events.

While most drivers this weekend will be competing at Richmond for the first time, NASCAR veteran Mike Wallace will be competing in the Super Late Model (Open) event after tallying 48 career starts at Richmond. Eddie MacDonald is one of the other drivers entered that has previous experience at the track.  He made five career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts at Richmond from 2011-2015.

In addition to the PASS stars that will be in competition, the American-Canadian Tour will bring some of the Northeast’s most accomplished drivers to Richmond with them.  Former Oxford 250 winners Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. are entered for the race and will be joined by former Milk Bowl winners Nick Sweet and Patrick Laperle.

The Tour-type Modifieds will be racing at Richmond Raceway for the first time since June 2002. “Big Money” Matt Hirschman recently entered the race and will be looking to add a win at Richmond to his resume. He’ll be joined by Southern Modified star Bobby Measmer, Jr. and former Turkey Derby SK Modified winner Anthony Sesely, among others.

Normally referred to as support divisions, the 4 Cylinders/Mini Stocks and Street Stocks will have their chance to shine on the big stage at Richmond.  Both races are shaping up to be must-see with 50 Mini Stocks and over 30 Street Stocks currently entered.
