Notes: This will be the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway. The $50,000 top prize converts into over 38,000 U.S. dollars. Forty cars are currently scheduled to start the 200-lap feature. The top 30 fastest times during group qualifying will be locked into the main event. Those who don’t make the top 30 will be split into a pair of last chance races, with the top five from each race qualifying for the main event.
The feature race will be an eight-tire race with teams allowed to change two right side and two left side tires. There will be a three-minute break on or about lap 100. Teams that pit during this caution will not lose position. A maximum of two tires can be changed during any other caution period. Caution laps will count towards the total of 200, but drivers will not lose laps if they pit under caution.
The inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals will see many of the top Late Models drivers in the United States head north of the border to challenge their friends to the north. Fresh off his big Oxford 250 win, Bubba Pollard will lead the list of favorites entering the event. Midwest racers Brian Campbell, Carson Hocevar and Johnny VanDoorn are also expected to be contenders. Recent Kalamazoo Klash winner Tyler Roahrig, an Outlaw Super Late Model star from Indiana, is on the entry list for the event. Former Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin is also entered for the race. Massachusetts racer Derek Ramstrom is on the entry list and is expected to make the trip north of the border. Some of Quebec’s top racers are also expected to make the trip over to Ontario. That list includes Redbud 400 winner Raphael Lessard and former Serie ACT champion Patrick Laperle. Ontario’s top drivers including Brandon Watson, DJ Kennington, Cayden Lapcevich and JR Fitzpatrick will be looking to defend their home turf.
