Fast Facts: The Winter Showdown is a 300-lap race featuring one of the richest purses in asphalt Late Model racing.  Over $150,000 will be on the line, including $3,000 to start and a $30,000 check for the race winner.  Teams are allowed three sets of tires for qualifying and the race.  They will start the race on their qualifying tires and have two sets of tires that they will be allowed to put on during controlled cautions.  The controlled cautions format makes it so that no driver can lose a lap or lose position(s) on pit road among the cars they pit with.

This year’s entry list once again features many of the top names in asphalt Super Late Model racing.  Derek Thorn, the 2017 race winner, and 2018 SRL champion Jeremy Doss will be two of the top names defending their home turf.  They will be challenged by a handful of invaders from the east coast, including four-time ARCA Midwest Tour Ty Majeski, who will be making the trip to Bakersfield for the second consecutive year. Fellow Wisconsin native Derek Kraus, who has three NASCAR K&N Pro Series West victories at Kern County, will also be competing in the race.

Preston Peltier, the 2018 Summer Showdown winner, will be debuting a new Rowdy Manufacturing chassis at the Winter Showdown.  A pair of former Southern Super Series champions — Stephen Nasse and Donnie Wilson — are also entered for the event. Ryan Reed, a Bakersfield native who has two NASCAR Xfinity Series victories at Daytona International Speedway, will pilot the Richie Wauters No. 5 in his Winter Showdown debut.

Tyler Ankrum, the 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion, will be joined by SRL championship runner-up Eric Schmidt, former SRL champion Jacob Gomes and a host of other west coasters who will contend for the victory.

Former Winter Showdown Winners:
