(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway is proud to announce Dave’s Flea Market as the newest contingency sponsor for the Legend Cars. Dave’s Flea Market will award the highest finisher in each INEX Legend class a $25 bonus. The classes include the Masters Division (drivers 40 plus in age), Semi-Pro Division (drivers who are new to the sport or have been inactive in racing), Pro Division (for experienced drivers), and the fan favorite Young Lions Division (designated for drivers between the age of 12 and 16).
“We are excited to get involved with an up and coming division at Stafford” explains David Arute, promoter of Dave’s Flea Market, “So far this year the racing in the Legend Cars division at Stafford has been intense and competitive. We hope that adding a bonus can help grow the division and add more incentive for a variety of drivers to try racing Stafford.”
The first Dave’s Flea Market bonus will be awarded this Friday when the Legend Cars return to Stafford after a one week hiatus. The first bonus corresponds with Dave’s Flea Market third edition scheduled for this Sunday, August 17th at Stafford Speedway. Be sure to make your way down to the track Sunday morning to check out Dave’s Flea Market. Vendor Space is priced at $25 and admission for the public is free. The Flea Market runs from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
The Legend Car division made their triumphant return to Stafford Speedway at the beginning of the 2014 season. Thus far the division has appeared 5 times and has had 4 different winners. Dana DiMatteo has been the only repeat winner and is the current point leader in the division. Dana leads Mike Christopher Jr. and Jordan LaMothe in the current point standing by a slim 10 and 20 points respectively.
“So far in 2014 there have been a lot of young drivers getting the opportunity to race at Stafford” explains Stafford Motor Speedway General Manager Mark Arute, “the racing has been pretty good and we hope the division continues to grow, this bonus will help that along.”
Mike Christopher Jr., the son of former SK Modified driver Mike Christopher and nephew of current SK Modified driver Ted Christopher, has dominated the Legend Car division throughout Connecticut in 2014 but has been challenged by the DiMatteo brothers as well as a variety of other drivers including Jordan LaMothe, Kyle Rodgers, and a variety of others. The Legend Car division is scheduled to race 5 more times at Stafford in 2014, which gives plenty of opportunity for drivers to grab the weekly Dave’s Flea Market Bonus.
