For 2016, Vermont native Brent Dragon is joining forces with DJ Shaw to campaign Shaw’s No. 49 Super Late Model in a limited schedule of PASS North events.
The Dale Shaw Racecars Super Late Models have posted many wins and top finishes in PASS competition in recent seasons with a variety of drivers including DJ Shaw, Joey Doiron, Jeremy Davis, and Bryan Kruczek.
Support for the No. 49 will come from RR Charlebois Freightliner in Milton, VT, and RR Charlebois Western Star in Plattsburg, NY, Premier Coach of Vermont, and Dale Shaw Racecars of Center Conway, NH.
Initial plans include five events. Additional sponsorship may allow more races.
The five dates currently scheduled are:
Sun. April 17 – Oxford Plains Speedway – Oxford, ME
with ACT Oxford 100
Sun. May 29 – Thunder Road International Speedbowl – Barre, VT
with ACT Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic
Fri. June 24 – Lee USA Speedway – Lee, NH
Sat. July 23 – White Mountain Motorsports Park – No. Woodstock, NH
with The ACT WMMP 150
Fri-Sun August. 26-28 – Oxford Plains Speedway – Oxford, ME
The Oxford 250
Dragon worked with Dale Shaw a few years back and the duo experienced success. The Shaws will prepare the car, provide most of the crew, and tow the car in their hauler.
Dragon’s No. 55 that he raced in 2015 remains in the Dragon Motorsports garage as a standby. The car has recently been mounted with a new ABC body for better aero balance.
The Super Late Model has been a big change from the ACT cars that Dragon raced most of his racing career. He has raced 13 PASS events in the last two seasons posting one top-five and two top-10 finishes. The PASS SLM set-ups are not as forgiving as the ACT Late Models. Correct chassis set-ups are necessary to run up front with the faster cars.
The Dragon/Shaw pairing is targeting consistent top-five runs for 2016.
