Doss hopes to attempt all of the Blizzard Series events in 2021, starting with Friday’s race at the famed Florida half-mile. He hopes this will be what it takes to help bring a Snowball Derby victory back from Five Flags Speedway to California come December.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I feel like this is going to be one of our best shots at Pensacola,” Doss told Speed51. “We’ve always wanted to run well at the Derby. The best way to do that is to run there more often. If all goes well, the plan is to run all the Blizzard Series races.
“Our past is in Super Late Model racing. We finally got back to where we could afford to run them. We felt like our best shot at winning was with this new car. We’re going to test the waters out and see how it goes.”

Doss has been tearing up the West Coast racing scene, with a perfect five-for-five record in the Spears Pro Late Model Series as well as two wins in the Spears Modified Series. He hopes to carry that wave of momentum with him as he travels east for a Southern Super Series doubleheader, racing at both Five Flags Speedway as well as Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday.
“It’s definitely a confidence booster when you’ve had success like we’ve had this year. The competition is pretty stout and I haven’t been in a Super Late since the beginning of the year, but I feel like we’ll be pretty good and running right up front.”
The priority right now for Doss is to focus on strong runs with the Blizzard Series, in preparation for the 54th Annual Snowball Derby on December 2-5.
I think most of it is wanting to do well at the Snowball Derby. It’s hard for guys like us to only run once a year and be successful. We’ve had good qualifying efforts, but come race time, being able to only run one time or one race, it’s hard for us to get a platform down.
“We felt it would better our team to run there three or four times before the Derby and better our chances of bringing that Tom Dawson Trophy home. I feel like it’ll be a lot better. As we all know, the best car doesn’t always win. You definitely have to have luck on your side at that race as well, but I definitely think it would better our chances.”
