BRADFORD, VT – Chris Donnelly of Piermont, New Hampshire continues to dominate in anything you put him in at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vermont. Donnelly was able to add two wins, both the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and the WYKR SCoNE’s, on Wells River Chevrolet night on Saturday.
Donnelly started from the back of the pack and made his way to the front to claim his third win of the season in the mighty mods. The past couple of weeks have provided Donnelly with exactly the track conditions he likes as he is able to make his way thru heavy traffic to the front of the pack.
Eddie Patterson led most of the event having his best race of the season. A late race caution was just what Donnelly was waiting for, which gave him the perfect opportunity to take over the lead. Donnelly brought home the checkers with Patterson holding on for second and Josh Sunn coming in third. Tim Hodge and Adam Pierson rounded out the top five.
The DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Pro Stock Sportsman Coupes have a weekly challenge by an anonymous sponsor call the “Brass Ring Challenge”. If the coupes can go green to checkers with no caution the winner gets extra cool cash in victory lane. If the event does not go green to checkers the fifty dollars is rolled over to the next week.
The challenge started on week two of the season and up until Wells River Chevrolet night there had been no drivers able to claim the prize. Starting fifth on the grid Billy Simmons was able to gain the lead and set sail on the field, cruising on to the win the extended distance event of forty laps.
With no cautions slowing the pace, Simmons also took home the extra $450.00! Joining Simmons in victory lane was rookie Mitchell Frost and veteran Louie Cadwell. Fourth and fifth would go to Josh Harrington and last week’s feature winner Jason Colbeth.
The Laquerre’s Sports Limited Late Models had some wild action on the track with their double digit field of cars. When the dust settled it was Rob Williams with his second win of the season. James Fadden came home second with Jason Giguere coming home in third. Fourth went to Cary Moulton with his best finish of the season and Kevin Harran completed the top-five.
In the Weglarz Property Service Fast Fours/KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets, rookie Hunter Garduno started from the pole position and would hold of the field to take the victory. The win was Garduno’s first at Bear Rdige. Bobby Bell claimed second and Sean Perron came home in third. The first fast four across the line was Rob Gioia coming in seventh. Karl Sheldon and Chris LaForest rounded out the top five in the feature overall finish.
