With nearly 40 on-track events slated for this season, Rockford Speedway is once again one of the Midwest’s busiest short tracks. Along with being a busy place in 2016, Rockford Speedway is proud to boast a very diverse menu of racing cars and series which will visit the sixty-nine year old facility this summer!

The menu begins with the bread-and-butter of Rockford Speedway, Saturday night racing, which features the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers and Kickstart Roadrunners competing on Saturday nights throughout the summer. The 69th NASCAR Season Opener takes the green flag on Saturday night April 23 and concludes with Whelen Engineering’s ‘Night of Champions’ on Saturday September 10.

Added to the Saturday mix this season include the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars, which are part of the action on Saturday night June 4. The wicked-fast asphalt Sprints return for the third straight year and are featured ‘under the lights’ for the first time since 2011. Joining the Sprints that evening will be Sportsman and Short Trackers, along with the first visit by the INEX Legends cars in nearly three years.

Saturday night June 11 brings the return of the ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Models to Rockford Speedway for another installment of the mid-summer sprint known at the ‘Kar Korner All Star 100.’ Last year, Seymour Wisconsin’s Ty Majeski captured the flag on ‘All Star Saturday Night’ while adding his name to an impressive list of All Star 100 winners that includes Dick Trickle, Mark Martin, Bobby Allison, Joe Shear and Erik Jones. Along with 100 laps for the Super Late Models, June 11 also features a full program for the NASCAR Late Models and Roadrunners. Non-sanctioned Super Late Models will also be part of the 51st National Short Track Championships on both Saturday and Sunday October 1 and 2.

The ‘Best Weekly Warriors in the Country,’ the Big 8 Late Model Series, open their twelfth season at Rockford Speedway on Sunday April 17 as part of Spring Classic and will also make a stop at the ‘high banks’ as part of their ‘championship drive’ during ‘Short Track Saturday Night’ at the 51st National Short Track Championships on Saturday October 1. The Mid-American Stock Car Series also opens its season at Rockford Speedway at Spring Classic on April 17 while also taking part in ‘Championship Sunday’ at #NSTC16 on Sunday October 2.

The STARS-Illini Midget Series brings their unique brand of short track excitement to Rockford Speedway twice in 2016, Saturday June 25 and Saturday July 16, while the American Ethanol Super Trucks make two stops at Rockford Speedway this year; as part of Spring Classic on Sunday April 17 and on ‘Short Track Saturday Night’ October 1 during the 51st National Short Track Championships. The Great Northern Sportsman Series and Midwest Dash Series also make stops at Rockford Speedway on Friday September 30, as part of ‘Opening Night’ of the 51st National Short Track Championships.
