Rolla, MO — Dirt Late Model standout Bobby Pierce will make his Asphalt Super Late Model debut this February at the 2015 World Series of Asphalt at New Symrna Speedway. The 18 year old, second generation driver will be behind the wheel of the LFR by Kevin Crider Motorsports house car for Kevin Crider for the final five races in the 2015 World Series.
Bobby is coming off his most successful year in racing, winning 16 features, including two Lucas Oil Late Model Series events. The 16 wins along with 44 top-five finishes led Pierce to both the UMP Late Model National Championship and the ALMS West Series Championship. The Championship season of 2014 came on the heels of a breakout year in 2013 in which Pierce was also selected as the winner of the Champion Spark Plugs Search for a Champion. Pierce was teamed up with fellow Champion spokesperson and the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick as a winner of the promotion.
“Bobby looks, acts and drives like a champion,” said Harvick.
The “Smooth Operator”, as he’s known in the Dirt Late Model world, will be in LFR by KCM Chassis number one. The chassis will be making its third start coming off a very successful run at the Snowball Derby with 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Derrick Griffin behind the wheel. Griffin qualified seventh for the race and was solidly in the top 10 before being collected in a wreck off turn four just before lap 100. Griffin will also be on hand for Speedweeks to assist Pierce and the KCM team. Pierce will miss the first few nights of the World Series at New Symrna as he will be at “home” on the dirt at East Bay Speedway through Sunday Feburary 14. The 18 year old hot shoe will make his way over to the high banked half-mile oval at New Symrna for the final five nights of Speedweeks.
“I’m very excited to get back on asphalt,” said Pierce. “I made my first start on asphalt in 2013 with Kevin as my crew chief and had a blast working with him.”
“Bobby is a very talented driver and was very impressive in Memphis,” said Crider. “He is very smooth and a quick learner, so I feel by the end of the week we will be a contender, especially in the 100 lapper on Saturday night.”
