The Snowball Derby is steeped in tradition, both on and off the track. One of those traditions is the annual Miss Snowball Derby pageant, which will take place on Thursday, November 21 at Seville Quarters in downtown Pensacola, Florida.
Ladies 17 years of age or older are eligible to compete in the Miss Snowball Derby Pageant. The pageant offers a great opportunity for young women to represent their hometown and display their passion for racing at the biggest short track race of the season.
Last year, Helena Ciappina was crowned the 2018 Miss Snowball Derby.
“It’s been a great experience,” Ciappina said of her time as Miss Snowball Derby. “I learned a lot about racing and I was glad to be a part of the family. It’s been fantastic.”
Miss Snowball Derby’s responsibilities include representing Five Flags Speedway at as many Snowball Derby functions as possible, as well as being present for all victory lane photos, pre-race ceremonies and fan activities throughout the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby.
“I’d recommend it to any girl who enjoys racing and would love being in the spotlight,” Ciappina suggested for potential contestants. “Tim Bryant and his wife are really great people. Working with them has really been great.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and express yourself. It’s something you enjoy the time with people. Go ahead, participate in this, try to win this pageant. It’s just been great.”
No talent or pageant experience is necessary to enter the Miss Snowball Derby Pageant.
Winning contestants will reign for the term of one year by making personal appearances, together and as a group, representing Five Flags Speedway.
