Veteran racer Dave Blaney was injured in a crash Friday night during qualifying for a World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series race at Eldora Speedway (OH).

The crash occurred during time trials at the Rossburg, Ohio dirt track and sources at the track told that Blaney flipped several times before coming to a stop on the race track.  Blaney remained in his car after the crash before being extracted from the car and  placed on a backboard.  He was awake and alert following the crash.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney, Dave’s son, updated fans on his dad’s condition via Twitter late Friday night:

“Dad is alright, got his bell rung pretty good but is up and being himself. Thanks for all the support.”

Emma Blaney, Dave’s daughter, also ensured race fans that her dad is doing well after the crash:

“Thank you for all the prayers. My dad is one tough guy.  He is a little sore but going to be okay… probably already watching DirtVision.”

Motter Motorsports, the Sprint Car team which Blaney drivers for indicated that he suffered no breaks or fractures in the accident.  The team stated that he was sore and will admitted overnight for observation.

According to a press release sent by the World of Outlaws, Blaney was released from the hospital late Friday night.
