CRA Street Stocks Four Crown Concludes Saturday at Shadybowl

Salem, IN -- The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will have the Championship event with the 2019 Four Crown Series this Saturday at Shadybowl Speedway. The event was originally scheduled to be the Four Crown opener back in April but was postponed and rescheduled because of weather. Owensboro, Kentucky native Brett Hudson is the defending winner of the event.

The Four Crown Series featured in 2019, four 200 lap, $3000 minimum to win events. The first Four Crown event was held on Sunday, July 14th at the Indianapolis Speedrome were Ben Tunny got his first ever CRA win. The second event was held on Sunday, July 28th at Mt. Lawn Speedway, were Ryan Amonett got the win. The third Four Crown Series event was at Anderson Speedway on August 10th were Brett Hudson got the win.

The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks had a very popular Triple Crown Series from 2014 through 2016 with the events at Shadybowl Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway and Anderson Speedway. Jason Atkinson won the Triple Crown Series Championship in 2014 and 2015 with Brett Hudson winning the 2016 Championship. The series was expanded to the Four Crown Series for 2017 with Chuck Barnes Jr. winning the title. The series was expanded to a Five Crown Series in 2018, but two events were cancelled because of weather, Jacob McElfresh was the 2018 Champion.

In addition to the $3000 minimum to win for each event, there will be a Points Champion from the four events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $600 bonus, third place a $400 bonus, then there will be two $250 bonuses from a random draw from the cars that attended all four events. Each of the Four Crown Series events will be 4 tire races, all four will have a break at lap 100 to add fuel and make adjustments. Each Four Crown event winner and the overall Champion will receive a specially designed buckle from Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing.

Saturday will be the ninth event of the 2019 season for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks, who opened their 2019 season at Anderson Speedway on April 13th, were Bret Miles Jr. got the victory. Chuck Barnes Jr. won the second event of the season on June 1st at Bristol Motor Speedway. Atkinson picked up the win at the series third event of the season on June 29th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. Amonett got the win in the series fourth event of the season, the non-points $5,000 to win Crown Jewel event at Baer Field on July 6th. Ben Tunney won the fifth event of the season at the Indianapolis Speedrome on July 14th. Amonett returned to victory lane in the sixth event of the season on July 28th at Mt. Lawn Speedway. Chad Pendleton picked up his first series win in the series seventh event on August 4th at Kil-Kare Raceway. Hudson got the win at Anderson Speedway on August 10th.

After three events, Jason Atkinson is the Four Crown points leader. Jason Thompson is in second, only four points behind Thompson. Teepe is third in Four Crown points, he is 33 points behind Thompson. McElfresh is fourth in Four Crown points, he is eight points behind Teepe. Brian Hopkins is fifth in Four Crown points, he is two points behind McElfresh.

McElfresh comes into Saturday’s event as the new series points leader. Teepe is now second in points, he is only two points behind McElfresh. Atkinson is third in series points, he is 27 points behind Teepe. J.J. Schafer is fourth in series points, he is 25 points behind Atkinson. Daniel Adams is fifth in series points, he is 64 points behind Atkinson.

Saturday’s race is the last regular season event before the series 2019 Chase for the Championship begins at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend. With his win at Baer Field and his participation to date, Atkinson is already locked into the eight drivers who will battle in the Chase for the Championship. Whoever is the regular season points Champion after Saturday, will automatically be locked into the season Championship event on Winchester 400 weekend as long as they compete in all the Chase events. Other drivers who are still Chase eligible going into Saturday’s race include McElfresh, Teepe, Schafer, Adams, Brian Lewis, rookie Dallas Frueh, Jordan Hahn and Alan Williams Jr.

There is an open practice at Shadybowl Speedway this Friday evening from 3pm to dark. On Saturday, pit gates open at 1pm. Practice will begin at 3pm. Qualifying will begin at 5:15pm. The race program is set to begin at 6:30pm and will include the 200 lap Four Crown Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Championship event. Saturday’s racing program will also include the Shadybowl Late Models, Modified and Thunder Roadsters.
