Loudon, Tennessee – Cory Hedgecock pocketed $2,000 on Saturday night in his Cushman #23 K&P Used Cars/ Transport One/ XR1 Rocket Chassis Crate Late Model. The victory came in the 2018 season opener for the UCRA tour.

The triumph marked his third of the 2018 campaign.

Behind the wheel of the Cushman #23 Crate Late Model entry, Cory Hedgecock traveled to I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tennessee) on Saturday night for the United Championship Racing Alliance (UCRA) season opener. With 15 cars on hand for the Spring Loaded Easter 40, Cory laid down the fastest time in qualifying before charging to a heat race victory.

Rolling off the feature grid from the pole, Hedgecock overcame challenging track conditions as well as a persistent Jimmy Elliott in the 40-lap affair to capture the $2,000 payday. The triumph marked his second straight win and third overall on the season. Ruben Mayfield, Josh Henry, and Anthony White completed the Top-5 finishers.

“We hit the ground running on Saturday night with fast time and a heat race win, but then early in the feature I struggled a little bit as I tried to navigate the rough,” Hedgecock noted. “I finally found a groove and turned up the wick halfway through the race. After that we got rolling really well and thankfully were able to get another feature win.”

The upcoming weekend – April 6-7 – looks to be a busy one for Hedgecock. On Friday night he will return to the driver’s seat of the Shadden Motorsports #9 XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model with a $4,000 victory at Tennessee’s Crossville Speedway. On Saturday night Cory will be back behind the wheel of his #23 Crate Late Model at 411 Motor Speedway. He may also compete in the Steel Head division if his new car gets ready in time.
