Race fans and racers hoping to kick off the 2016 CARS Tour season will have to wait an extra day. With an 80% chance of rain showers in the forecast for Saturday evening in Lucama, North Carolina, CARS Tour officials have decided to postpone the season opening #CARSTour300 at Southern National Motorsports Park to Sunday, April 3 at 4 p.m. ET.
This will be the first of 10 events on the 2016 CARS Tour schedule for Super Late Model and Late Model Stock competitors. There are 23 pre-entries for Super Late Models and 28 for Late Model Stocks in advance of Sunday.
Due to the postponement of the race itself, practice day has also been pushed back from Friday to Saturday.
The garage will open at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday with practice getting underway at 12 p.m. Qualifying for the Super Late Models will begin at 2:30 p.m. and be followed by qualifying for the Late Model Stocks. The green flag for the Super Late Model race will fly at approximately 4 p.m. ET.
