CARS Tour Revels 2021 Schedule with Surprise Season Opener

The 2021 short track season continues to build up, with the latest edition being the release of the 2021 Super Late Model and Late Model Stock Car schedules of the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour. While many familiar destinations will make a return, there was one big surprise in store for the Late Model Stock competitors.

The Late Model Stock Cars will open the season at historic mile-long Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina on March 6.

In total, the CARS Tour will stage 17 events in 2021; with 12 for the Late Model Stock Cars and 9 for the Super Late Models. Of these, only 5 will be SLM/LMSC doubleheaders, while one event on May 22 will be announced at a later date.

Following the aforementioned March 6 event at Rockingham, the CARS Tour heads to Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) on March 20 for the Super Late Model season opener, and the second event for the Late Model Stocks.

The first Super Late Model solo show is scheduled for April 10 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC), which will be a co-sanctioned event with the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco.

Weekend of April 24 & 25 features the return of the $30,000-to-win Old North State Nationals for Late Model Stocks returning to Orange County Speedway (NC), after relocating to Greenville-Pickens in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions in North Carolina.

Business picks up in the first weekend of May with the Late Model Stock Cars heading to Ace Speedway (NC) on Friday, May 7. The very next day, May 8 the Super Late Models will be at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (TN) in the return of the tri-sanctioned North/South Challenge with the Southern Super Series and ARCA/CRA Super Series.

Following a TBA event on May 22, things get busy again on June 5. That day will see the Late Model Stock Cars heading north to Langley Speedway (VA), while Super Late Models go west to Bristol Motor Speedway for the U.S. Short Track Nationals, which also be a CARS/CRA/SSS tri-sanctioned event once again.

June 19, Late Model Stocks have the spotlight at Dominion Raceway (VA).

Independence Day weekend sees the Super Late Models go north for the second-straight year to Jennerstown Raceway (PA) in a combo event with the ARCA/CRA Super Series on July 3, with JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour Pro Late Models also scheduled to attend.

The two Tours reunited on July 31 at Hickory Motor Speedway for the 5th running of the Throwback 276, which was put on hold in 2020 due to restrictions on race fan attendance.

Summer’s end features the Late Model Stocks at Wake County Speedway (NC) on August 14. The month wraps with both the SLM’s and LMSC’s taking on Motor Mile Speedway (VA), which returns to action in 2021 on August 28.

The lone September date is another SLM/LMSC doubleheader, this time at Tri-County Speedway (NC) on the 11th.

Finishing up the 2021 season are a pair of fall dates. First is the Late Model Stock Cars at Florence Motor Speedway (SC) on October 2, and then it is up to South Boston Speedway (VA) to conclude both the Super Late Model and Late Model Stock schedules on October 16.
