With a poor weather forecast for Alamance County, North Carolina on the horizon, the CARS Solid Rock Carriers Tour postponed its event at Ace Speedway scheduled for Friday, June 5 to Saturday, June 6.
“Due to the 90% chance of rain this evening, Ace Speedway is postponing tonight‘s event until tomorrow (Saturday) at 8 PM ET,” the series tweeted.
Thus, competitors will have to wait one more day before returning to action in the CARS Tour. The series completed its season-opening event at Southern National in March before COVID-19 postponed several series events. Saturday’s Late Model Stock Tour event will be the first for the series since that point.
Saturday’s rescheduled event will follow similar scheduling and protocol from Friday’s planned race. Grandstand gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with fans still allowed for the event. The green flag for racing will drop at 8 p.m., as planned for Friday’s race.
Twenty-six cars pre-entered for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour event at Ace Speedway, with a handful of drivers showing up on Thursday at the Altamahaw, North Carolina facility as last-minute entries. One of those is Super Late Model ace Bubba Pollard, who has joined forces with Reynolds Racing Chassis to compete in the Late Model Stock event.
Taylor Gray won the season-opening event for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour at Southern National. Matt Craig was the CARS Super Late Model Tour winner that day in March. The Super Late Models’ next scheduled event is next Saturday, June 13, at Hickory Motor Speedway in a companion race with the CARS Late Model Stock Tour.
