CARS Tour Event at Carteret County Speedway Postponed

The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour announced on Thursday that it would postpone its Late Model Stock event at Carteret County Speedway, which will now take place on September 12 instead of July 11.

"On Wednesday, June 24, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper extended Phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan through July 17," reads the CARS Tour statement.  "As a result, the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour event at Carteret County Speedway originally scheduled for July 11 has been postponed.

"The Solid Rock Carriers 125 for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour has been moved to September 12."

The event was the next planned stop for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour.  With the postponement, the next race for the Late Model Stock Cars will be the Throwback 276 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC), scheduled for Saturday, August 1.

Through three events, Layne Riggs leads the CARS Late Model Stock Tour points by Corey Heim.  Heim won the series' most recent event at Hickory, with Taylor Gray (Southern National) and Ryan Millington (Ace) also boasting 2020 CARS Late Model Stock Tour wins.

The CARS Super Late Models are currently scheduled to race next on July 4 at Jennerstown Speedway (PA) in a co-sanctioned event with the ARCA/CRA Super Series.

Carteret County Speedway joined the CARS Tour schedule in 2018, with Bobby McCarty winning the inaugural event.  Josh Berry won at the Swansboro, North Carolina facility in 2019.
