Racing will return to Gresham Motorsports Park on May 16-17, 2020 with a Super Late Model showcase at the Georgia half-mile. The race will now be a co-sanctioned event, as the CARS Tour has joined forces with the Southern Super Series to contest the race.
The event at Gresham will be the first stock car race held at the track since August 9, 2014. Known as the home of the prestigious World Crown 300, the race track formerly known as Jefco Speedway, Georgia International Speedway and Peach State Speedway has a rich history and is a favorite among those who have competed there previously.
The event will now be a co-sanctioned race between the CARS Tour and the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, in conjunction with Bob Dillner of Speed51. Together, they will be working closely with Jim Gresham, who owns Gresham Motorsports Park.
The two series’ have co-sanctioned several events in the past, although this will be the first ever race in the state of Georgia for the CARS Tour.
“Any time we can get some of these short tracks and bring some life back into them, it’s great for racing, for sure,” said CARS Tour Owner Jack McNelly. “It gives us a little larger footprint, so that’s exciting. This will be our first event in Georgia. We’ve always had pretty good luck with doing our combo races before, both with car count and fan count.”
Other races, events and activities for the weekend, plus all the details for the actual racing will be announced in the coming weeks.
Details regarding purse, other divisions, activities and a test date will be made available soon. For more information please contact Bob Dillner.
