The fans were ready for a full night of exciting racing action Saturday at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway after getting to meet and greet their favorite drivers, but storms rolled through the area midway through the event, ending the program early.

The show was able to get started before the clouds opened up, which was a good thing for Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model driver Steve Carlson.

Carlson entered the night five points behind leader Mike Koeneke, but was able to cut Koeneke’s lead to two points by finishing third in the Six-for-Six dash, three spots ahead of Koeneke.

Mike Carlson won the dash and Matthew Henderson and Randy Humfeld grabbed checkered flags in heats one and two, respectively.

Jimmy Gilster and Brian Hesselberg each won Coca-Cola Sportsmen Division heats. Andy Moore and Jason Bolster won the United Auto Supply Thunderstox heats.

One of the events that fired up the crowd was the Faster Pastor races. Thirty-four area pastors and their wives climbed behind the wheel to show off their driving skills. There was plenty of action during the four races that including having one car flip over. No one was injured, but it got the crowed fired up.

Join the Speedway for an Independence Day celebration Thursday, July 3 when Budweiser presents the Star Spangled Spectacular. There will be a full program of NASCAR racing, plus the Klement’s Racing Sausages and a huge fireworks extravaganza after the races.
