By the Numbers: 56th Annual Alabama 200

One of the nation’s biggest Pro Late Model races, the Alabama 200, will be held Saturday at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Get ready for the big event in this edition of “By the Numbers” on Speed51.

4: Jake Garcia could be the fourth different driver to win the Alabama 200 with veteran crew chief Ricky Turner.  From 2012 to 2015, Turner guided Mason Massey, Chase Elliott and Anderson Bowen to Alabama 200 wins.

4: Kyle Plott in the No. 4 car could be a sleeper for an Alabama 200 win.  The Georgia native has run really well as in recent months and has a Pro Late Model win at Five Flags Speedway under his belt from last season.

6: Augie Grill is chasing a record sixth Alabama 200 crown after he took his fifth win in 2019. Grill was third in 2018 and 2013 for seven total podium finishes.

43: Justin South in the No. 43 mount will be one to watch come race day.

56: In addition to the Alabama 200, there will be a 56-lap race for the Modifieds of Mayhem series.

200: The race will be 200 laps, which can be very challenging on the flat half-mile track.

Bragging Rights: Over the last 12 Alabama 200 events, six have gone to Peach State drivers with Anderson Bowen, Chase Elliott, Casey Roderick and Mason Massey each taking a win. Five wins have gone to Alabama drivers — Augie Grill in particular — and one to Oklahoma driver Donnie Wilson.

Deep History: The 2007 and 2008 races were run at South Alabama Speedway as the Montgomery track was closed.

Deep History 2.0: Richard Petty and Bobby Allison captured wins in the Alabama 200 at Montgomery in what was NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the time. Allison won this race twice.
