Mooresville, NC – Bond Suss Racing (BSR) will continue its relationship with Dave Reed Racing this weekend at the Winter Showdown. Veteran crew chief Bond Suss is set to make the trip to Kern County Raceway Park (CA) to call the shots for Dave Reed Racing’s No. 2 Super Late Model piloted by Craig Raudman. The two worked together a few times during the 2017 season and look forward to starting this season off together.
“Working with one of the best guys in the business over the last year and a little bit has seriously helped improve our race program,” said Reed. “Any time Bond is available to come out west we are excited to have him join us.
“I am really looking forward to working with Dave and Craig again,” said Suss. “I had the opportunity to go out there last year and I think there are a lot of things we can build on. This is a big race and I’m excited they have asked me to call the shots for them all weekend.”
During the off season BSR built a new car for the Dave Reed Racing team and it will debut at the Winter Showdown. Along with an updated chassis, Reed says Suss’ extensive racing knowledge and meticulous preparation is what makes him a perfect fit to lead their team.
“Bond has worked with some of the best drivers and teams in the business and has a vast amount of knowledge to offer any race team,” said Reed. “He brings a balance to our team as well has his organizational skills and his ability to lead is paramount in racing. He, of course, is the master when it comes to setting up a race car to be the best it can be. Bond has a way of doing things that bring the best out in everyone. He is very easy to get along with and it is really impressive to watch him do his thing. I am just really thankful that he is on our team and we are not having to compete against him now knowing what he brings to a race team.”
Raudman will be behind the wheel for the Winter Showdown after competing in eight of the nine SRL races last year with Dave Reed Racing. The team earned three top-five finishes and five top-ten finishes, including a 10th place finish at Kern County Raceway to conclude their 2017 season.
“There is a lot of potential with Raudman and the entire Dave Reed Racing team,” said Suss. “We worked really well together last year and now with them switching to one of my cars, I think this relationship will just continue to grow and see more and more success.”
The Winter Showdown kicks off Thursday with hauler parking followed by practice and qualifying Friday and then the 300-lap Winter Showdown at 2:00pm PST on Saturday, February 3rd. Fans can watch the race live via an online stream on Speed51.com. The live stream will be available for free to Speed51 Network subscribers thanks to the support of PFC Brakes.
