Announced on Tuesday afternoon, legendary stock car racer Bobby Dragon is among the newest members of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame.

 

Dragon, a member of the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame, experienced a successful career on Vermont tracks as well as throughout the Northeast and in Canada.  He won more races than anyone at Catamount Stadium (VT), winning four track championships and numerous major events there.  He also won three track championships at Thunder Road in Barre, VT, two at Devil’s Bowl in West Haven, VT and one at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh N.Y..

 

Dragon also won three track champions north of the border at Sanair in St-Pie, Quebec.  Among his other accomplishments were three Vermont state championships and three Northern NASCAR Late Model Sportman Tour championships.

 

The 11 inductees and two special award recipients will join three previous classes at the 2015 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration presented by Casella at the Doubletree by Hilton Burlington on Williston Road in South Burlington on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015
