It’s time to crash the party at the Appalachian Regional Expo Center.  The grand opening year for the brand new, multi-million dollar facility in Wytheville, VA will now feature the Blue Ridge Bash, a  World Championship Demolition Derby on Saturday, February 16.

The Blue Ridge Bash will feature three different classes of demolition derbies.  The full-size cars will pay $2,000 to win, while a $1,000 will be on the line for a front-wheel drive / compact class.  There will also be a Mini Van / Mini Truck / SUV class that will pay $500 for the victory if 15 entries are received.  The top-three finishers in each division will walk away with prize money.

The events are being promoted by Millbridge Speedway (Salisbury, NC) and Carolina Derby Promotions.

“This is a great way to debut a four-wheel motorsports event at the Appalachian Regional Expo Center,” said Jeremy Burnett, co-promoter of the Blue Ridge Bash.  “Parents and kids love demo-derbies so this will be a very family-oriented show for people to have a great time and also see what this new facility is all about.”

Also in the spotlight on Saturday, February 16 will be a pair of races featuring younger competitors.  Youth Lawn Mower and Kids Power Wheels races will be part of the Bullring Bash.

The Appalachian Regional Expo Center is located at Exit 77 on I-81 in Wytheville, VA.  The exposition center will be within feet of the intersections of I-81 and I-77.  With the two interstates crisscrossing the heart of Southwest Virginia, each day more than 80,000 vehicles pass by the facility, offering over 29 million yearly views of the center.

The state-of-the-art facility has been purposed-built to accommodate a myriad of activities including livestock shows, rodeos, indoor soccer events, travel shows, concerts and motorsports events.

The Blue Ridge Bash will be the inaugural four-wheel automotive event at the Appalachian Regional Expo Center on Saturday, February 16, 2019.  Spectator gates will open at 5pm.  Tickets will be $20 for adults while kids 12 and under are $10.  Advance tickets will be on sale at in the coming weeks.
