A new year is just around the corner, which also means a new season of short track racing. Once again, Dillon Motor Speedway will open festivities with the New Year’s Bash on January 4-5.
The 10th Annual event is headlined by the Mid-Atlantic Street Stocks, which will compete for 110 laps around the South Carolina bullring for a $2,500 winner’s payday. The event routinely draws Street Stock racers from all over the United States. Last year’s race featured drivers from Wisconsin, Maine and Florida going against the Street Stock regulars of the Carolinas.
More than 40 Street Stocks appeared at last year’s race, with more than 100 race cars across all divisions on the premises for an action-packed weekend.
Along with the Street Stocks, the New Year’s Bash will also include feature racing for UCARs, Challengers, V6 Bangers and Four-Cylinders of the Carolina Mini Stock Challenge.
Teams will practice from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, followed by a 20-lap feature for the V6 Bangers before qualifying for Street Stocks and Challengers.
Sunday’s program will begin with limited practice at 12 pm, followed by qualifying for the Carolina Mini Stock Challenge and UCARs. Feature racing will begin at 2 p.m., starting with the B Main for Street Stocks before feature races across the other divisions.
For fans hoping to attend the New Year’s Bash, general admission is free of charge for Saturday’s practice, qualifying and V6 Bangers feature. Adult tickets are $15 for Sunday, with children under the age of 11 able to attend at no cost. Discounts are also available for senior citizens and military personnel.
The race will also be televised via a tape-delayed broadcast on Speed51’s Short Track America on MAVTV at a later date.
