A Dominant Showing…17-year-old Roush Fenway Racing development driver Kyle Benjamin won Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Bristol Motor Speedway in a dominant showing, leading 81 of the event’s 125 laps. The victory is the first for the Pro Series East Rookie of the Year candidate, coming three races into his first full NASCAR season.
The win also serves as his second top-five finish in that three-race span, ranking him third in the series point standings, a mere nine points behind the leader.
Key Moment…After starting eighth, Benjamin rhythmically picked off track position, placing himself third in the running order by lap 12. He took the race lead on lap 45 and never relinquished it.
Kyle Benjamin on His Win at Bristol:
“This is one of the toughest tracks on the schedule, and one you dream about winning at when you’re a kid. It’s a big confidence booster for us. Our car was pretty good. It was a better long-run car and that helped us get out front and restart in front of the field.
“I also want to think Roush Fenway and Ford for all the support they gave me.”
