Bell Rallies From Early Chaos for Second Millbridge Win

Christopher Bell backed up his Winged Micro Sprint win at Millbridge Speedway three weeks ago with another triumph on Wednesday night without the wing.  However, the win was anything but an easy one for the NASCAR Cup Series driver, overcoming an early incident and a furious battle with Gavan Boschele for the win.

Bell had won his heat race earlier in the evening, but a dice roll of six placed him outside of the third row to start the 30-lap feature. With just two laps completed in the event, a multi-car incident tangled up Bell with several others, dropping him even further into the 16-car field.

The Oklahoma native recovered, however, driving his way through the field and quickly working up to second place.  There, he went toe-to-toe with Gavan Boschele, trading slide jobs around the 1/6-mile oval.

Bell took the lead for good on lap 17, maintaining the top spot the rest of the way for the victory.

After the win, Bell spoke highly of the Millbridge Speedway racing surface, hosting its first season of Micro Sprint racing and quickly turning into an exciting venue for the machines.

“That was a lot of fun,” said Bell in victory lane.  “They’ve got the track pretty good. That was the slickest I’ve seen this place.  It was really difficult.  I was able to work the bottom pretty well and get by those guys.”

Bell was also complimentary of his fellow racers in the event, tipping his cap to Boschele as well as sending well-wishes to Carson Kvapil after a flip during the race.

“We’ve got a couple of really good racers.  Gavan did really well tonight, and obviously Carson Kvapil is very talented.  I hope he’s feeling okay and we’ll be racing him again soon.”

Boschele finished second, with Connor Gross completing the podium.  Matt Francis took the fourth position, with Ethan Burdett rounding out the top five.

The Micro Sprints will be back at Millbridge Speedway on July 7-8 as part of a doubleheader of racing.  The Non-Winged Micro Sprints will race on Tuesday, July 7, while teams will put the wings on for Wednesday, July 8.
