The Gildan Racing hauler left Verona, Wisconsin Friday on a trophy hunt and came back Sunday successful. The first stop was Friday night at Golden Sands Speedway. John finished 2nd in qualifying and the fast heat race to ten time track champion Mark Eswein. For the feature event officials inverted the field but John made his way past most of the competitors into 2nd place. By this time Justin Mondeik had a straightaway lead and John wasn’t able to close the gap before the checkered flag flew. This places John second place in points only 2 points out of the lead.
Saturday Gildan Racing traveled to Marshfield Motor Speedway for the CWRA Tour where John captured his third win of the season in the 1st feature of the night. The team picked up where they left off in 2019 when they won 3 features and the track championship at Marshfield. In feature #2 of the night John was able to make his way up to 3rd before the event was cut short due to a nasty accident sending a car flying into the front stretch wall and fence. With considerable damage done, the race was considered complete.
With his win and 3rd place finish on the night, John remains on top of the point standings heading into the next CWRA Tour action next weekend. Gildan Racing has 6 weekends in a row where they are racing 2 or more times a week.
