WATCH LIVE: Patriot Shootout at Millbridge
Avedisian shined on the opening night of the Patriot Shootout, starting on the pole for the A-Main after charging from fourth to first in her heat race. Brent Crews took the lead on the opening lap of the 40-lap feature and would ultimately take the checkered flag, holding off Avedisian as they battled through lapped traffic to close out the race.
“I think I was a lot better in traffic,” Avedisian said. “Once we got spaced out, we were about the same. I’d make a few mistakes and he’d make a few mistakes. In lapped traffic, when you’re in the lead, you never know where second place is, so you’re trying to drive it harder and harder. The lappers are hard to get around because it was so top-dominated. When you throw a slider, they’re just going to turn under.”
Avedisian is an accomplished Micro Sprint racer, with a Tulsa Shootout championship as well as Lucas Oil NOW600 championships on her resume. This year, she has also been making starts in the POWRi National Midget Series, competing with CB Industries.
That midget experience has been an invaluable asset when she climbs back into her Micro Sprint for events such as the Patriot Shootout.
Being in the Midget the last couple of weeks has helped. You have to drive those things so hard. You get back in this, you drive it just as hard and go just as fast if you don’t make mistakes.
Having the expertise of CB Industries’ Chad Boat in her corner has also been extremely helpful for Avedisian as she climbs the racing ladder.
“I can’t thank Chad enough. Even if I go quick time in hot laps, he’s like ‘You can do this better, you can do that better.’ I’m glad I have someone like Chad, I can’t thank him enough.”
The second night of the HMS Motorsport Patriot Shootout presented by Osmond Global will be live on Speed51.TV for fans unable to attend at Millbridge Speedway. Click here to watch live on Wednesday night.
