Rochester Hills, Michigan — The list of pre-entries for the 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend continue to pour into the Motor City Racing Promotions home offices in Rochester Hills, Michigan at a rapid rate. The fourth season of indoor racing for the Midwest Indoor Racing Series begins with the 2015/2016 winter racing season opener at Kellogg Arena (MI) on Friday-Saturday, November 27-28th. The first wave of pre-entries was already impressive and the second wave continues to represent nearly every form of motorsports looking to battle on a different type of surface during the winter time.
ARCA/CRA Super Series veteran, Brian Campbell has filed his entry for two divisions. The Wyoming, Michigan standout will compete in the Go-Karts 360s and Heavy Clones as the 36-year-old scored four victories during the 2015 racing season in Champion Racing Association’s (CRA) premier tour for a total of 18 career triumphs. His last win came in the 2015 CRA Fall Brawl at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on September 27th, 2015 and moved him into a three-way tie for third all-time victories within the ARCA/CRA Super Series with Canadian Legend, Junior Hanley and three-time Series Champion, Johnny VanDoorn. Also in 2015, he finished second in points while collecting three additional wins at his home track of Berlin Raceway (MI) in the tracks Template Super Late Model division.
A standout on the dirt side of the motorsports world, Ryan Ruhl will make his MIRS debut behind the wheel of a Mini Sprint. The 28-year-old from near-by Coldwater, Michigan is an accomplished driver in full-sized Winged Sprint Cars who scored 10 Feature wins during the 2015 season including a season high of six within the Sprints on Dirt (SOD) series. He also finished eighth in SOD points standings and fifth at Butler Motor Speedway (MI) in the Winged Sprint Car division. Ruhl is one of the top Winged Spring Car drivers in the Midwest as in 2007 he was the SOD Rookie of the Year and the 2014 SOD Runner-Up in the final points.
UMP DIRTcar Modified rising star, 17-year-old Tyler Fitzpatrick will be heading to Battle Creek, Michigan in search of his first career MIRS victory. The Leesburg, Indiana teenager has filed his entry to complete in the Mini Sprint division. Fitzpatrick will look to advance one more position in the headlining event of the weekend, after finishing a career high second at Kellogg Arena in MIRS last appearance there back on January 17th, 2015. Fitzpatrick will also look to duplicate his feat of one year ago when he won his first career Fast Qualifier award during the 2nd annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend.
The all-time career leader in MIRS victories with 19 trips to victory lane over the first three seasons of MIRS racing, 10-year-old Chase Burda will look for his milestone win #20 of his MIRS career. The Columbiaville, Michigan youngster will give himself six chances to do so. Burda will compete in the Quarter Midgets Light 160, Senior Animal and Senior Honda classes as all Quarter Midget divisions will compete in full shows on each night. In last year’s Thanksgiving Classic, Burda swept the entire weekend with six total Feature wins and has scored eight of his MIRS checkered flags at Kellogg. The 2013/2014 Quarter Midget Junior Honda Champion, nine-year-old Tyler Wolfersberger returns to MIRS competition and will race in the Senior Honda division. Izaiah Higdon is also entered and will make his MIRS debut in the Quarter Midgets Junior Honda class.
More Mini Sprint entries have come in the form of A.J. Lesiecki and his younger brother, 18-year-old Jonathan Lesiecki as well as Jeff Wolfersberger, Tyler’s Father and veteran Greg Stanley. Stanley from near-by Marshall, Michigan will make his MIRS Mini Sprint debut and lead the Stanley Family Racing Team with his daughter, Quarter Midget graduate, Nicole Stanley, who moves up to the Mini Cup division. 16-year-old Bobby Stanley is the third family member to enter and will race in the Quarter Midget Heavy 160s.
The Nichols brothers, 17-year-old Steven Nichols and younger brother, 14-year-old Zack Nichols, the 2015 GLS Mini Cup Series Rookie of the Year, are both in search of their first career Mini Cup wins and look to break the Scott Quaal/Todd Cowan win streak in the 13 all-time Mini Cup mains conducted. In the Lawn Mowers, Mike Wick was the first driver to submit his entries and will compete in the Super Modifieds and Stock divisions. Dennis Bodary will also compete in the Stock class.
The Go-Karts divisions continue to overflow with entries with a full field already pre-entered in the 360s division. Amongst the latest entries includes; defending Friday Night Shootout winner, Nathan Bevard who will look to repeat his feat from a year ago on Friday night while going for the clean sweep during the main event night on Saturday. He’ll also compete in the Heavy Clones. Seumus Calderwood and Jada Weaver are also entered in the 360s class. In the Heavy Clones, UMP DIRTcar Modified competitor at near-by Butler Motor Speedway (MI); Tim Wilber will make his MIRS debut while Mike Coleman is also entered. Reigning Go-Karts Purple Plate Champion, 11-year-old Andrew Scheid is moving up to the Gold Plate division as he continues his career progression after spending the 2015 outdoors season in the Lightning Sprints division at Merritt Speedway (MI).

The 2015/2016 winter racing season kicks off with two nights of racing starting on Friday, November 27th. After an open practice in the afternoon for all teams competing over the weekend, the 600cc Mini Sprints will headline opening night with the 30-Lap Friday Night Shootout. In addition, the Go-Karts divisions of 360’s, Heavy Clone, Open, Senior Cage, Junior Cage, Gold Plate and Purple Plate will be in action. Also, the Quarter Midget divisions of Senior Honda, Junior Honda, Heavy Honda, Senior Animal, Junior Animal, Light 160 and Heavy 160 will all be racing for an action packed night with 15 divisions of racing.
Then on Saturday, November 28th, the 600cc Mini Sprints return with the 50-lap headlining Feature of the weekend. In addition to the Mini Sprints, the Mini Cups and three Lawn Mower divisions of Super Modified, Modified and Stock classes will all join in on the action. Six Go-Karts divisions return for a second night as the 360’s highlight the Karts portion of the night going for a cool $500 to win. Heavy Clone, Senior Cage, Junior Cage, Gold and Purple Plates are back while the Kid Karts will be added to the Saturday program. All seven Quarter Midget divisions return for a second night of competition for a full 19-division lineup to complete the traditional holiday weekend of racing in Southern Michigan.
