Ashton Winger Claims First-Career MSCCS Victory

Hampton, Georgia (04/22/19) – 19-year-old Ashton Winger achieved a career first on Saturday night. The pilot of the Johnny Doan Plumbing No. 12 Franklin Enterprises/ The Realty Queen & Team/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model charged to the $3,000 victory with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) at Whynot Motorsports Park.

The win was his first of the year and the first of his career with the storied, regional tour.

“Man, I always love racing at Whynot Motorsports Park, and after weather altered our original plans, we had a great night there on Saturday night,” Winger commented. “We got to the lead pretty early, and then this car was just a dream to drive. We got to see a lot of friends there as well, and I can’t thank Todd Pruitt and all of Billy Franklin’s crew enough for lending a helping hand on my car.

“I’ve got some awesome sponsors that allow me to do this, and I want to thank them all. After losing his original plans to Mother Nature, Ashton Winger traveled to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) on Saturday night for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSSCS) sanctioned program.

Ashton earned the fourth-starting spot for the finale at the 3/8-mile oval. He charged to the lead by lap 10, and then went on to pace the remainder of the event. Streaking to his first-career MSCCS victory, Winger was followed across the finish line by Chad Thrash, Rick Rickman, Dane Dacus, and Scott Dedwylder. He earned a $3,000 payday.

On the heels of one first, Winger will seek embark on another first this Saturday, April 27. The Georgia racer plans to trek north to compete for the first time ever at the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio). The $5,000-to-win event at the half-mile highbanks will be sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS).
