Another Saturday night and another victory for Jesse Dutilly and the Carbone Motorsports #30. The native of Sarasota, Florida has won four out of the last five races he’s entered between Desoto and Auburndale Speedways. The team is on fire heading into the summer stretch and it seems that everyone else is just racing for second.

In a night including a post race fireworks display, the on-track fireworks shined bright, as 16 super late models went 100 laps on the high banks of Desoto Speedway. Dutilly, who won the pole but started sixth on a pill draw, quickly moved through the field and took first away from Dylan Bigley on lap 18 with Anthony Campi in hot pursuit. Campi, unanimously considered the second fastest car on the track by his fellow competitors, gave Dutilly quite a fight for the lead on restarts, though didn’t have the long run speed to keep up with the Carbone Motorsports Chevy.

Campi’s day would only get more challenging from there. On a restart with 30 to go Steve Dorer in his Racecar Engineering Chevy took to the outside and stole away the second place position with authority when no one else on the track had tested the upper grove. Then, six laps later a caution would group the field back up when Michael Atwell would got into the left rear of Campi’s no. 81 and send the two of them into the wall.

In the mean time, eventual third-place finisher Joe Boyd, who started shotgun to the field, drove the wheels off his no. 5 ford to take advantage of the mix up between Campi and Atwell. And after fending off an attack by Dustin Dunn a podium finish was all but assured.

“The car came to me late. It was a little loose when we started, but tightened up on the restarts. If we had a few more laps I could’ve got Steve, but I didn’t have anything for the 30” Boyd said post race.

Fans will find out if the field has anything for Dutilly on June 13th when the Super Late Models take back to the highbanks of Desoto for 75 laps.
