NO. STONINGTON, CT – Joe Arena is proving that 2015 was no fluke. The Bristol, CT-driver won his third North East Street Stock Tour (NESST) race of the season last Friday night at Lee USA Speedway.

Steve Kenneway and newcomer Jordan Pearson led the field of later model production cars to the green flag. Immediately, Kenneway took control over the top spot, while Arena advanced from his third starting position into second. Pearson settled into third. Kenneway and Arena would battle side-by-side for the first 17 laps of the event.

On lap 18 Arena made his move, wrestling the lead away from Kenneway. Meanwhile, a little further back, Jim Boyle advanced past Pearson to take control over the final podium spot. The top three would run that way for the duration of the 35-lap event. Frank L’Etoile, who advanced from deep in the starting field, and local driver Patrick Tanguay rounded out the top five.

The victory was Arena’s fourth, his third this season, and second in a row. By virtue of his position at the halfway mark, Arena received the Dur-A-Flex halfway bonus.

Steve Cole, who was involved in a heat race skirmish that ended his day, is the recipient of the Northeast Race Cars & Parts Unlucky Dog Award.
