ARCA, Super Late Model Double at Nashville Postponed to Sunday

After persistent rain struck the Nashville area late Saturday afternoon, officials have postponed the North/South Super Late Model Challenge and the ARCA Menards Series Music City 200 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville until Sunday afternoon.

Just after driver intros for the North/South Super Late Model Challenge concluded, rain started to fall over the speedway. With no end to the rain in sight, officials wereforced to move the event to the scheduled rain date.

Despite the poor weather forecast throughout the day, qualifying was completed by both series, using their respective practice sessions to set the starting lineups.

For the Super Late Models, three-time PASS South champion Matt Craig set fast timewith an 18.450. Defending ARCA/CRA Super Series champion Josh Brock was second fastest, followed by 2017 Southern Super Series champion Stephen Nasse, and former All-American 400 winners Donnie Wilson and Johnny VanDoorn.

After a redraw for the top eight, Scotty Tomasik and Josh Brock will start on the front row for Suday’s North/South Super Late Model Challenge. Eighth-place qualifier Anthony Sergi will start third, followed by Wilson and fast qualifier Matt Craig.

VanDoorn, Nasse, 2018 Pro Late Model track champion Michael House, Chris Davidson and defending CARS Response Energy Super Late Model Tour champion Jared Fryar round out the top 10 starting spots.

Other notable drivers include Southern Super Series points leader Giovanni Bromante and defending series champion Casey Roderick in 11th and 12th, two-time track champion Cole Williams in 14th, SpeedFest winner Connor Okrzesik in 16th, and 2004 All-American 400 winner Chuck Barnes Jr. in 26th.

Chandler Smith won the General Tire Pole Award for the ARCA Menards Series, his sixth in 12 career ARCA starts. The Music City 200 for the ARCA Menards Series will go green just after 1:00 p.m. CT and can be seen live on MAVTV.
