Parker Retzlaff continues to open up his point lead in the Western Super Series with another win over William Hale, and defending series Champion Andrew Wooten. Retzlaff was very pleased post race as he dominated, leading 105 of the 125 laps.
“It was really fun, wish we had a few more green flag laps. It sucks that Layne (Riggs) got taken out, it would have been a fun battle with him. The inside line was so much better than outside on restarts I knew that if I lost the lead, it would be really hard to get it back. I am just going to try and stay consistent every week, there are a lot of good drivers in here and anyone could win a race at any time, so I am just going try and get a good finish every week.
William Hale has been a long time member of the series, and was more than happy to be on the podium finally.
“I am as happy as a the first loser can be. We finally had some luck on our side tonight I guess, we have been running this series for a little while and just never had that luck but tonight we got a little bit and we had a fast car. I could not keep up with Parker there at the end, he is an awesome iRacer. We did not practice as much as we normally do this week and he just drove away from us. I could not figure it out until the last two laps on what he was doing, so hats off to him he is a great racer period. You know you just sit back, at the Bullring, anything can happen. We had a lot of luck tonight, Andrew was catching us at the end, but we had the right luck in Las Vegas”
Defending series champion Andrew Wooten came back for his first appearance of 2020, and ran into trouble on a restart with Kole Raz that cost them both better finishes.
“It boils down to you have to be smart, I could not go until Parker went and that is the bottom line. Kole made a mistake, he’s a great driver but made a mistake and it hurt both of us. If that doesn’t happen then I think I have a really good shot at winning. Parker, Will, and Ryan (Kuhn) it was fun racing with them, they all drove the wheels off of it.”
Parker opened up his points lead over Thomas Axsom who came home 7th tonight.
