Oregon, WI - The ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour will crown their Champion during the 51st annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend on Sunday afternoon October 11, following a ten race season which will take them throughout Illinois and Wisconsin to compete on paved oval circuits ranging in size from a quarter mile to a mile and a quarter in length. At the conclusion of the 2019 campaign, it was Casey Johnson of Edgerton, WI atop the standings, recording his first ever ARCA Midwest Tour Championship over fellow Touring Stars Austin Nason and John DeAngelis, Jr, on the strength of two wins.
Madison International Speedway will once again kick off the ARCA Midwest Tour season with the 12th running of the Joe Shear Classic on Sunday afternoon May 3. The $10,000 to win, 200 lap event at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ in honor of Midwest Racing Legend Joe Shear has become one of the most talked about events each season. Last year, race fans were treated to a show as Georgia’s Bubba Pollard methodically worked his way to the field and took command of the high side to fend off a hard charging Rich Bickle and 2018 JSC victor Austin Nason.
The Salute the Troops 100 on Saturday May 23 has become a traditional stop at Jefferson Speedway each Memorial Day Weekend. A multiple time Champion at ‘Wisconsin’s Action Track’, Casey Johnson recorded his first of two victories on his way to the 2019 Tour Title last May in a wild race that saw tight racing resulting in multiple three wide scenarios for position.
After a highly anticipated return of racing to The Milwaukee Mile last June, the roar of Super Late Models will once again fill the air at ‘America’s Legendary Oval’ on Sunday afternoon June 14. After a highly contested one hundred mile contest that did not see Austin Nason secure the top spot until the final laps, there are more than a few of the Nation’s Top Super Late Model drivers that have this event on their list of marquee events to win.
Following a one year hiatus, a facility rich in history not only to Midwest Tour owner Gregg McKarns’ family, but to Super Late Model racing in general, returns to the ARCAMT schedule when the ‘Stars and Cars’ invade Grundy County Speedway to challenge Chicagoland’s best. The Wayne Carter Classic 100 presented by Rod Baker Ford and Illinois Truck & Equipment is set to take place on Saturday July 11, marking just one of a record seven ARCA Midwest Tour point races which will pay a minimum of $5,000 to the winner.
State Park Speedway and their Larry Detjens Memorial Weekend will once again welcome the Touring Stars into Central Wisconsin for a 125 lap battle in the shadow of Rib Mountain on Saturday night July 25. 2019 ARCAMT Rookie of the Year Gabe Sommers bested Championship contenders Johnson and Nason, Central Wisconsin’s Dillon Hammond and former SPS Champs Luke Fenhaus and Jeremy Lepak to record his first ever Tour triumph at the quarter mile paved oval when the Tour returned to be part of ‘Detjens Fest’ last July.
Wisconsin’s Richest One Day Race will continue the first Tuesday of August tradition at Wisconsin International Raceway on August 4. Gandrud Auto Group’s support of short track racing in Wisconsin is unprecedented as the Gandrud Auto Group Dixieland 250 will continue to pay the largest purse in the state’s celebrated asphalt Super Late Model racing industry. With the winner’s share having gone to Minnesota and Alabama previously, Ty Majeski made sure it stayed in-state following a dominating performance last August, out pacing John DeAngelis, Jr and former ARCAMT Champ Dan Fredrickson.
The ARCA Midwest Tour is proud to announce that it will be part of the NASCAR and IndyCar Doubleheader Weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway this August. The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series iHeartRadio 200 will highlight the Friday Night August 21 activities. Then on Saturday August 22, the Midwest Tour will contest the Gateway Classic Super Late Model Showdown, leading into the NTT IndyCar Series Bommarito Automotive Group 500 that evening. Ty Majeski snuck past Paul Shafer, Jr on the final circuit when the Tour last visited the one and a quarter mile oval located just outside of St. Louis.
A second stop at Madison International Speedway is set for Friday night August 28 for the Howie Lettow Classic. The following weekend, the Tour makes its annual Labor Day Weekend voyage to Dells Raceway Park on Saturday night September 5 for the Escape to Wisconsin 100, kicking off the Holiday weekend in ‘The Waterpark Capital of the World’.
The 2020 ARCA Midwest Tour Champion will be crowned on Sunday afternoon October 11 during the 51st annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. In a wild finish which saw multiple pit strategies play out, Ty Majeski had just enough steam left to best Dan Fredrickson who had a fresh tire to utilize late in the 200 lap Championship event. The ARCAMT will highlight the Sunday portion of the four day racing festival which features over 500 racecars and thousands of campers in addition to the ‘Legendary After Race Parties’.
New for 2020, will be the Midwest Tour’s involvement in the All-American Weekend October 31 and November 1 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. The non-points race will feature drivers from a multitude of sanctioning bodies throughout the country with guaranteed starting positions for top ARCAMT Touring Stars.
