Wenatchee, WA — After a one-year hiatus, the 52nd Annual Apple Cup will return to the famed half-mile Yakima Speedway in 2019. Featuring a $5,000 paycheck to the winner that tops the field over the course of 125-laps of action, the Apple Cup will be the premier season-opening event of the Northwest racing season.

Running 75 laps, taking a break for fuel only then completing a 50-lap shootout, the Apple Cup format for 2019 is sure to generate excitement in the racing community.

The race is the region’s oldest Late Model event with some of the Northwest’s top names in short track racing winning the event including Don Dowdy (seven Apple Cups in an eight-year span), Gordy Haines (inaugural winner), Derrike Cope (three-time winner and 1990 Daytona 500 champion) and Jeff and Jason Jefferson who are the only brother combination to win the race in 2002 and ’03, respectively.

Owen Riddle is the defending Apple Cup Champion, with his 2017 victory adding to a stellar Northwest career. Others to watch for during Apple Cup weekend include Garrett Evans, Tayler Riddle, Mitch Kleyn and Trenton Moriarty.

Weekend events include Saturday’s Qualifying, Trophy Dashes and Heat Races. Sunday features main event in all classes concluding with the 52nd Annual Apple Cup 125. Entry and other information can be found at yakimaspeedway.us.
