With just over three months remaining until the nation’s most highly anticipated short track event of the year, phone lines are open at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway and tickets for the 47th Annual Snowball Derby are now on sale to the general public.
Tickets went on sale Monday morning and as of mid-day, the phones have been ringing at a steady pace at the track’s box office as fans from all around the country purchase short track racing’s hottest ticket.
“There’s a lot of anticipation with that already,” Bryant said of the 47th Annual Snowball Derby. “There’s still some good races remaining both here and at other tracks around the country, but anticipation is already high for the Snowball Derby.
“Our entry list, although we’re not ready to publish the list, is looking pretty impressive. We’ve got some well-known short track drivers from all around the country that are going to come to Five Flags Speedway to test their skills at the Derby. We’re pretty excited.”
On August 1, the track ended their renewal period for fans that had purchased tickets to the prestigious event in recent years. Bryant said that the amount of renewals for this year’s event was ahead of the pace that they saw during last year’s renewal period.
“The ticket renewals went very well,” Bryant told Speed51.com powered by JEGS. “We’ve been doing that for a couple of months and that ended the first of August. We’ve processed all of the requested upgrades and now the remaining tickets are on sale to the general public.”
So far, the track has heard from fans in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and as far north as Maine who plan to make the trip to Florida’s panhandle during the first week of December.
“We have some regulars that come from pretty far away,” said Bryant. “There’s a great nucleus of fans in the Wisconsin area that we get every year. Indiana and Ohio are represented. Of course, Louisiana is a hot bed for Snowball Derby fans and Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, as well as Florida. I think Wisconsin is probably the farthest distance away. We’ve got some fans already purchasing tickets from the New England area, so we’re expecting them to come from all across the country.”
Fans can purchase tickets to this must-see event by calling the Five Flags Speedway track office at (850) 944-8400 or by filling out the form at this link and mailing it to the address listed on the form.
